Photography is getting to be a tough job.

As it turns out, everyone that sees my work wants me to shoot them, their bands, their family, their weddings, their friends, their cars, their clubs, and anything else that can be photographed.

As it turns out, people think it is absurd to actually pay a photographer for several hours of work.

I've had 7 bands ask me to shoot them in the past 3 months. They want massive photo shoots with a lot of production value. But when I make any mention of getting paid to work for them...they tell me that they don't pay photographers. They always say something like "oh, well this person said they'll do it for free." Then, guess what what the photos look like. Ass.

Too many people want something for nothing and it's getting very difficult to make a living off this photography thing.

It's very frustrating.

Pychological Analysis:

I'm a very unconventional photographer (and person!). I prefer remote areas, desolate abandoned buildings, morgues, warehouses; that sort. I take pride in the lengths I'll go to get amazing shots that no one else will go after. I do any and every kind of photography (unless it involves a naked guy and a plunger...long story), but most people that contact me are seeking my "trademarked" post-apocaplyptic industrial style (it's so original!... yeah...). Also, I have a near sexual attraction to Ford Mustangs and anything to do with zombies.

I am more than willing to travel for photo shoots as long as weather is good or we're shooting indoors. I do need gas money, though. My car sucks on gas (the SPACE SHUTTLE gets better gas mileage).

I'm very open minded with concepts. Usually a model will have a few ideas and I'll have my own which we mix together in a frothy mixture of photography goodness (45% madness by volume). I have a strange habbit of imitating the poses I want done. I can't even begin to imagine how funny that looks out of context.

I must warn anyone that hires me: I like to make people laugh, so expect me to be my crazy, goofy self. I also have a very sarcastic sense of humor and a disposition somewhat reminiscent of Invader Zim (I can do a little dance!). Don't worry, I don't bite!

Let me have a talk with the editor and show him some of your work, and I'll get back to you. I'd love an in-person interview, of course, but you live a bit aways, so it'll probably end up being an over-the-web interview. Likely it will happen soon, though - I'm returning to writing for the magazine from hiatus right after NaNoWriMo, so I'm expecting that the interview might just make Issue 7 or at least 8 in January/February.

Also, I wanted to talk to you about a trade. I need new promo photos for the project and for the new Sessions EP, so was wondering if maybe we could discuss that as well.
